Handcrafted to order, this shawl was born from the mood board below.

What inspired me?
I worked on this shawl in late spring and early summer, completing it on the day of the summer solstice — and that, in turn, determined its name.
Litha is one of the ancient names for the celebration of the summer solstice. In the Christian tradition, this festival was transformed into the feast of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist. It is a celebration of light — both spiritual and physical. That is why rays of sunlight found their way into the design of the shawl.
When my shawls are born, they seem to tell me their own stories. At first, this one whispered almost too softly to hear. Then its whisper grew into a song — a song of joy. The joy of being alive.
And so I named it Litha, after the day when we celebrate the Sun, rejoicing in its long, generous presence in our lives.

To wake early to the first tender rays of the sun. To open the window wide and greet the morning. To let the gentle breeze and the rich fragrance of herbs drift into the room. To wash one’s face in icy water. To take from beneath the pillow a little bouquet of herbs gathered the day before. And then — to remember one’s dreams.
To carefully untangle the bouquet of dreams, trying to see each one as a flower and discover its own secret meaning. To let the kaleidoscope of dreams unfold, then step outside into nature and feel, with one’s whole heart, the joy of being alive. To embrace that radiant joy and give thanks to the Creator for the gift of it all: to live and see the Sun, to live and give love.
Joy is the most powerful of emotions — and the simplest, too. It asks for so little. One can rejoice in the rising sun and the morning dew, in the ripple of water and the fragrance of ripe berries. Joy walks with a light step and has many friends: like a tender summer breeze, it travels from one person to another, awakening sleeping souls and whispering sweetly: rejoice, you who are alive.
Meaning
This shawl was created for the woman who carries joy within her; for the one who knows how to shine upon others like the sun on the longest day of the year. For the one who believes that if we pour more light into the world, the world will surely become a better place.
